Weight loss isn’t as simple as calories in versus calories out. If it were, then none of us would be overweight. To lose weight, we need to increase our metabolism while reducing cravings and hunger to create an energy balance—the point at which the energy consumed matches the energy you burn. One way to make this easier? Snack on drinks that will help you feel full and boost your metabolism, so you can maximize your weight loss results. Read on to learn about eight weight-loss drinks that can help you feel fuller, boost your metabolism, and lose weight faster.

1) Beetroot Juice

Beetroot juice is full of vitamin C, which gives your body a burst of energy, so it’s perfect for a mid-morning boost. Drinking beetroot juice first thing in the morning has also been shown to improve mental focus, so if you want to feel more on top of your game as you tackle your day, drink up! Try different flavors—most grocery stores sell beet juice that can be mixed with water or seltzer. (Just make sure there are no added sugars!) This method works best when juicing fresh beets. You can also try juicing them without water: Cover them in cold water and cook them over medium heat until they become tender about 15 minutes.

2) Ginger Tea

Ginger tea is soothing on an upset stomach, which can make all your other healthy lifestyle choices easier to follow through with. To reap its benefits, brew ginger tea from fresh or dried ginger root. However, don’t confuse it with bottled ginger tea found in most supermarkets. Bottled drinks are typically loaded with sugar, which defeats weight loss purposes. Plus, you may get fewer of ginger's health benefits from these store-bought varieties because many are also packed with sugar-based flavorings and colorings (like caramel). Choose fresh or dried rather than canned or bagged for maximum effect.

3) Coconut Water

Matcha tea may be particularly beneficial for weight loss. The whole-leaf tea contains natural chemicals that boost metabolism and burn fat. According to a study in The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, participants who regularly sipped matcha green tea lost about two pounds a month. Green tea is also loaded with antioxidants called catechins, which have been shown to rev up your metabolism and burn fat quickly. Drink 3 cups of brewed matcha green tea daily as part of a weight loss plan for more satisfying weigh-ins on scales!

4) Green Tea

Green tea is rich in antioxidants, which may help boost metabolism. A study published in Clinical Nutrition found that drinking three to four cups of green tea a day led to slightly more weight loss than doing exercise alone, but other studies have not found any significant effects. However, an animal study published in Nutrition Journal found that mice fed green tea extract over five weeks lost weight. And, another animal study from researchers at Michigan State University concluded that adding regular green tea consumption can increase fat oxidation rates at rest by about 5 percent. 5) Spinach Smoothie

Nutrient-rich spinach is one of nature’s best sources of iron. This helps boost your metabolism while maintaining good energy levels. The fruits you add to your smoothie will also provide needed vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Oranges are especially beneficial because they contain lots of vitamin C and other antioxidants that help prevent a range of diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and osteoporosis. Strawberries help suppress appetite so drinking them before meals can reduce calorie intake. 1 cup spinach; 1⁄2 cup strawberries; 1⁄2 cup oranges; 1⁄4 avocado with skin; 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder; 2 cups water for blending. (Serves 2)

6) Matcha Tea

One cup of matcha tea (I recommend Imperial Brand Match Green Tea) contains 5 grams of dietary fiber and a whopping 639 milligrams of antioxidants, according to The Daily Meal. Other health benefits include reduced risk for heart disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, depression, Parkinson’s disease, and gallstones. Match tea is considered one of the healthiest drinks on earth by many cultures including traditional Chinese medicine practitioners. It comes from young green tea leaves before they open fully to expose a dark interior filled with antioxidants. Traditional Japanese legend suggests that drinking just two cups can increase your life expectancy by up to 20 years! Now that’s an anti-aging tip I can drink to!

7) Yerba Mate Tea

This tea is available in a variety of forms, but it’s traditionally made from dried leaves of yerba mate, an evergreen tree that grows in South America. The leaves are steeped in hot water to make a sweet tea that’s low in calories. Yerba mate has been shown to increase energy and boost metabolism slightly more than green tea, which makes it easier to lose weight. In addition, drinking large amounts of water during your meal can help you eat less because you feel full faster.

8) Turmeric Water

Turmeric’s active ingredient is curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory properties that help you lose weight by reducing belly fat. Try our Turmeric Water recipe for a tasty drink that can also aid in digestion and reduce water retention. To make it, combine 1 cup of water with 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, 1⁄2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1 clove crushed garlic, 1⁄2 teaspoon ginger powder, and a pinch of cayenne pepper (you can also add jalapeno for more spice). This delicious beverage can also be enjoyed cold to give you an extra boost during the hot summer months! click here for more...
